Minimum of 4 students required to schedule this class.

 

This training class meets the Continuing Education Requirements and offers an attending student a total of 16 Continuous Education Hours (CEH).

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the Profibus DP Networks in a Siemens automation system. Hands-On troubleshooting methods are covered using a variety of hardware and software tools.

Career Classification

The target audience consists of Engineers and Maintenance Electricians involved with Installing and/or Maintaining Profibus DP Networks.

Course Prerequisites

Students are required to have a working knowledge of Windows Operating System. Past experience with Step 7 PLC Programming is helpful.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Install Profibus Connectors on cable
  • Use a BT200 hand held Profibus Cable/Connector Tester
  • Connect a Siemens Diagnostic Repeater and use Diagnostic Screens
  • Install, configure and utilize “Profibus Scope” Diagnostic Utility
  • Access and use Siemens Step 7 Diagnostic tools such as “Hardware Config”, “Diagnostic Buffer” and “Set PG/PC Interface”.
  • Install and utilize the Profibus Diagnostic Block FB125 and HMI Screen
