This training class meets the Continuing Education Requirements and offers an attending student a total of 24 Continuous Education Hours (CEH).

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the Profinet Networks in a Siemens automation system. Hands-On troubleshooting methods are covered using a variety of hardware and software tools.

This course is designed to utilize step-by-step hands-on procedures while covering course material in student guides. Two students will share an Industrial Ethernet training rack including a Programming PC, PLC with a Scalance 212 switch, ET200M, ET200S, ET200Pro and ET200Eco I/O.

 Career Classification

The target audience consists of Engineers and Maintenance Electricians involved with Installing and/or Maintaining Industrial Ethernet Networks.

 Course Prerequisites

Students are required to have a working knowledge of the Windows Operating System.  Past experience with Step 7 PLC Programming is helpful.

 Course Objectives

 At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

·         Configure PC/PG Interface on PC to communicate to PLC via Profinet

·         Utilize Telnet and Ping to test network

·         Configure IP address and Device name on PLC

·         Create a Hardware Configuration consisting of Profinet devices

·         Access PLC via a Web Interface

·         Establish Pier to Pier communications using Component Based Automation (CBA) and Imap.

·         Establish Pier to Pier communications using I-Device.

·         Use TCP/IP communication via the PROFINET interface of the S7-CPUs.

·         Use Wire Shark software to monitor Ethernet Packet information to detect network problems.
