Unilumin USlimII: Precision LED Panels for High-Impact Museum Displays
Founded in 1973 by Rachel Robinson, the Jackie Robinson Foundation continues to preserve and advance the legacy of one of America’s most impactful athletes and civil rights pioneers. Through scholarships, mentorships, and global learning opportunities, the foundation has empowered countless students nationwide. To expand this mission and create a lasting tribute to Robinson’s life, the foundation envisioned the Jackie Robinson Museum in the SoHo district of Lower Manhattan—a space dedicated not only to history, but to education, dialogue, and inspiration.
Challenge
When it came time to bring the story of Game Day at Ebbets Field to life, the Jackie Robinson Museum needed a digital wall to deliver the historical media for the Game Day exhibit. Working with Gensler’s design team, the concept evolved into a striking faceted triptych of Unilumin USlimII LED panels, wrapping elegantly around a detailed model of Ebbets Field.
Peerless-AV®, Ideum, Gensler & Unilumin Collaborate to Create a Custom Fabricated dvLED Video Wall for the Jackie Robinson Museum to Support a Dynamic Digital Backdrop for the Museum’s Archival Footage
As the installation advanced, the complexity of the multi-angle design called for a precision mounting solution capable of supporting seamless alignment across three displays. To achieve this, Ideum partnered with Peerless-AV®, who engineered a custom direct-view LED (dvLED) mounting system specifically for Unilumin’s panels—delivering mechanical strength, exact alignment, and aesthetic precision within a tight project timeline.

The completed video wall spans 7 feet high by 30 feet wide, featuring 152-degree concave facets that draw visitors into an immersive storytelling experience visible even through the museum’s glass facade. Built with Unilumin’s USlimII 1.5625mm pixel pitch LED panels (500x1000mm), the installation features 272 modules in a 17×2 configuration, totaling over 6.9 million pixels at a resolution of 5,440 x 1,280. The entire structure weighs approximately 2,000 pounds, combining Unilumin’s lightweight yet durable display technology with Peerless-AV’s robust mounting system.
Installation
During the installation process, there were 15 people at a time on site with representatives from each party. Team members from Unilumin and Peerless-AV were dedicated from start to finish, investing their time and efforts to complete their part of the project in only three days. Even after the work had been finished, the team provided full support through the installation of the Unilumin cabinets.
Results
The result is a stunning digital centerpiece that brings Jackie Robinson’s enduring impact to life—uniting technology, design, and storytelling in a way that reflects both his spirit and the museum’s mission to inspire future generations.
