One practical example of the VISOR® Robotic +Z in action is in automotive production.
The Ask
In vehicle manufacturing, removing body parts such as car doors from load carriers is a critical process. Robots must pick up these parts safely and accurately, which requires precise position data for every component.
The Challenge
This application presents two major challenges:
- The required distance measurements change depending on how many components remain on the load carrier
- Shiny, reflective surfaces such as metallic car parts can be difficult for conventional sensors to detect reliably
The Solution

The VISOR® Robotic +Z addresses both challenges by combining a vision sensor and an integrated distance sensor into one device. This enables the system to provide accurate depth information across distances from 150 mm to 2500 mm.
Its integrated projection laser reliably detects changing distances, while the sensor processes the information precisely and sends the data directly to the robot controller.
